First Story
Last summer students from our Academy were given the opportunity to take part in the First Story project for the first time. First Story is a national charity that is currently working with over three hundred schools to help deliver inspiring activities which enable young people to work with professional writers, develop their literacy skills and to publish their own pieces of writing.
Their anthology was launched in the auditorium of The Collection Museum as part of the Lincoln Book Festival. The boys read out a selection of their pieces to a large audience of parents, professional writers and representatives of several other schools. As a result of a number of voluntary rehearsal sessions the boys took this potentially daunting experience in their collective stride and spoke with genuine confidence and pride in their work. It was wonderful to see so many parents being able to share in this achievement.
